I Passed My Generals Exam

Today, Tuesday, May 26th, 2026, I passed my Princeton C.S. generals exam.

My talk was titled Learning Machine Behavior: Measuring Exploration, Stability, and Alignment in Learned Agents. Generals felt like a meaningful checkpoint: a chance to pull together the questions that have been motivating my Ph.D. work and explain how I think about learned agents as systems whose behavior we can measure, compare, and improve.

I am grateful to my committee, labmates, friends, and family for the feedback, questions, encouragement, and patience that helped me get to this point.

You can read the slides here: Generals Exam deck.
